| Before listening to the new release of these three German goregrinders who founded this band back in 2004 one should ask oneself if this world needs more groovy gore. Whoever answerers this question with "no" can stop reading now because groove is the only thing delivered here in rough quantity. The sound of the three butchers is strongly influenced by Mexican pedants such as Tu Carne (who are also covered here), Oxidized Razor and of course C.A.R.N.E. Everyone familiar with the aforementioned bands knows what's coming: ultra simple riffing which is very catchy though, die-hard pitched vocals and mid-tempo drumming á la snare, hat, snare, hat, snare, hat. Musically no prize winner but this aim was never even marked I think. So they bang their way through the 24 similar sounding tracks, which run all in all over for 50 minutes (without the help of endless intros, there are a few here and they are which are pretty funny). With the Vocals there is once that C.A.R.N.E.-grunting, burping almost audible singing and unfortunately some grindcore style screams, which are nothing but a pain in the ass. It's like the band is trying to lay a big dump in the toilet (head of the listener) and every time these goddamn screams just flush it down. On killer tracks like "Meat Is Good Food" and "Gorevolution" one is fortunately exempted from it. The lyric level could be settled somewhere between kindergarten and primary school (which isn't necessarily badat all). Names like "Jesus Loves You Because He Is Gay" or "Body Juice Blues" (where you can even hear some harmonica sounds and blues-like guitars) sound nevertheless rather funny for sure. The organisation of the cover artwork however sucks totally ass though, but you'll get in the puking mood which is continued as soon as the music starts. The production definitely has a dirty touch which is needed for this kind of grind. Of course there is some kind of certain wear effect to report after a few runs, but since this album plays longer than the standard goregrind full length, it's not specifically tragic and until one is fed up with this amount of music, there is a lot of listening to be done. All in all a wakeup call for all friends of groove and simplicity (yes, you too CBT-Fans), get yourself this CD before it's sold out there's nothing to be done wrong here. Tomhet, The Almighty Mr. Goreblast und Helreath, more of that but next time please with a better cover art and no screaming vocals. |
