Shaarimoth is called translated "Gate to Hell" and is related to an old legend about a dragon that has to pass the seven gates in order to break the limits of the cosmos. That kind of mysticism and occultism is rarely to be found in the Death Metal area, which is why Shaarimoth isn't just unique because of their music. The two-man-band from Norway present a sound of unusual (I can't think of a better word right now) tuned guitars, growls in the vein of Hate Eternal, including the screams and are really showing a big refreshment. The riffing is dissonant, fits right into it. The drumming is very varied and stunning. It's surprising that this band is much unknown until this day, which is actually really a shame. A few tracks are oriental sounding in which someone's speaking out some Hebrew spells or something. Not quiet my liking but for such thing you can use the skip-button. Bottom line: unusual, worthy of listening Death Metal from Norway for everybody interested in fantasy and such people that are just on the never ending seek for new DM sound.
