| Today we are just for once not dealing with another Band coming out of the US and A. Also this band is not coming out of the homelike regions of Germany. No, Regicide are also not from Colombia or from the Netherlands. Regicide are coming out of a country that is very untypical and unexplored. Regicide are coming from the far China. The style of this band is however more influenced by bands coming out of the American division and has not been furnished with any Chinese sounds. The cover artwork is absolutely not behaving Chinese at all and is more orientated on cover artworks like those from Tony Koehl or Jon Zig: in other words splatter, dead bodies and guts are at the agenda. For the Regicide cover all the dead bodies have been nicely stacked in a railway compartment. We'll sit down in exactly this train also and right after one has sit down, the wild journey begins. Boring stupid intros are not troubling here in any way and so one get's it straight to the fucking face at its best. What I really like on Regicide is the fact that they are not only playing slamming riff stuff like Devourment and others but also pit on some more extreme and even faster parts, which are making leeway into grind stuff. A variation of these both styles is there for sure, and it's also done in a very good way. At this point I would like to lift up the track "Criminal Jail" on which the change between both styles has been very entertaining for me. Coming to the lyrics that are offered in the 12 tracks (yes 12 complete tracks without any stupid 5 minute outro or other bullshit) it's about how to make sludge out of a human body with as many loss of blood that is possible. The exact lyrics will be closed forever as they are not to be found in the booklet or anywhere else. Even the probably biggest and most known archive has some lyrics from this album available. Generally when looking into the booklet one will for sure only twitch with the shoulders as you can only read the text there when you are able to understand the Chinese language. I think these are the typical thanks messages and not some secret "we'll take over the world and kill you all" messages. In conclusion to the booklet which is plainly hold in black the rest of the layout is looking a lot better and is more fitting with the cover artwork. I am unfortunately not able to say who made this nice cover artwork. But let's get back to the music. Beneath the already mentioned fast grinding attacks, the slamming mid-tempo riffs and an nonstop drum set that is clubbing on tin cans a fucking great guttural voice from Zhuang Yu is joining, who is not offering these at the present time so hip nonstop "BREEE" vocals but rather deep tones that are reminding me a little bit on Matti Ways vocals back in the good old "She Lay Gutted" days. Ok Regicide also cannot handle the whole thing without using these brutal hardcore/death metal vocals a la Human Rejection or Waking The Cadaver here and there. What I dislike on the vocals is the fact that they are a little bit too much dominating compared to the other instruments while the drum sound is pushed back into the background. A little bit more experimentation with the mixing could have helped to improve the end result, because it's not satisfying for 100 percent. On the bass and the guitar everything is mostly resided on the right volume level. Well, and so the "mortuary train" called Regicide is banging through overall 12 stations of terror and dismemberment, mowing down everything in its way. Unfortunately the last stop is reached after 29 minutes and one has to leave involuntary wise. A further negative point is that you first have to find this "Death train" called Regicide. Except their label Mort Production which is completely in Chinese language there is actually not really a chance to get this stuff fast. The copy I have here came from the US label Sevared Records, but there this CD is also "not in stock" anymore. It has been a really lucky gasp to find it there after a long search. I'll not speak about a scarcity value here because I'm sure that there are many copies of this CD available. So we can just hope that this "slaughter train made in China" will find a way as fast as possible on European tracks to collect dead bodies in its wagons while tanking along from station to station without any regard on bursting heads, ripped off extremities, out-stepping entrails or squelched bones. They definitely deserve it! |
