| Oh well, Neurotic Records is already somehow a strange record label. For weeks they have advertised the release of the new album of the Dutch Brutal Death combo Prostitute Disfigurement in advance and then suddenly one can find the album at several shops from other record labels but not on that one where the band stands under contract. Well, never mind, screw that! Main point is that it anyway still has been released. One thing one can definitely already hold down: one get's offered more for one's money with "Descendants Of Depravity" than it is the case on some other stuff out of the Brutal Death sector. The track list of the newest opus from these Dutchman includes 9 songs that are all as usual able to attend with various perverse and sick lyrics around rape, mutilation and death for which Prostitute Disfigurement are definitely known. Even musically they tie on where they have ceased on the predecessor "Left In Grisly Fashion" once; still one get's aggressive blasting Brutal Death Metal coupled with slightly technical guitar riffs battered into the face on which from time to time short melodic solo parts are showing up that are however not disturbing the brutal ado in any way. Everything is therefore constantly accentuated through a strong but not too dominating bass. The production again is beyond all disbelief as it has already been the case on the predecessor and lets all the instruments appear in a good light. One could say that everything remains unaffected. Yes one could say if there wouldn't be one point existing on which opinions will for sure split. I'm talking about the vocals singer Niels is launching. On all previous albums pretty brutal guttural vocals have been giving the note but now on "Descendants Of Depravity" one gets "only" some aggressive Death Metal growls for the first time since the existence of this band. Many fans will after the first run of this CD feel like they have just been brutally fucked in the ass and I'm pretty sure that the band wanted to cause exactly such "now you're flatly" reactions through their style change. A crude kick in the balls it should be and a crude kick in the balls it became. So violently, that almost the nutsack bursts. But everybody who is now disappointedly turning one's back on Prostitute Disfigurement after the first listening experience of the new CD is for sure doing a big mistake. Sure one has to get familiar with the new sound from these perverse Dutchmen but that will happen faster than one thinks and once the spark has jumped over one has to admit that "Descendants Of Depravity" sounds damn cool. Ok it is not a new milestone when it comes to the songwriting but independently from personal favorites I would still consider it being the best album from this band. As mentioned on the beginning one gets a lot more offered for one's money as it's the case on many other albums from the past few months. That lies for one thing thereon that Pär Olofsson and Joel Sta could have been organized for the cover artwork and the layout and both have done their work good as usual and for another thing thereon that there is also a DVD available beneath the normal CD on which the band has perpetuated their 2007 gig at the Dynamo (Netherlands) and has added also some backstage material and a video clip for "The Sadist King And The Generalissimo Of Pain" as little bonus. Talking about quality here a lot of officially released DVDs could learn something here because the video and audio is more than well done for a bonus DVD. But as this is not already reason enough to be carried off into a world full of perversions once more by Prostitute Disfigurement for 39 minutes one will get the standard limited slipcase from Neurotic Records also. So don't wait for someone who will kick your ass and immerse into the sick world of these Dutchmen. You will not regret it. |
