| Slowly I'm really getting scared in front of these Americans. No, it's not because of the policy by the Bush government, it's more because of the extraterrestrial record breaking extreme Death Metal growing there like there is no tomorrow. When you look at this development and compare it with the rapid improvement of today's graphics in computer games, you can't really imagine where Death Metal will stand in ten years. What are they putting into the drinkable water for their citizens? Personally I would tip on some kind of speed/cocaine cocktail because otherwise I can't declare the furiousness on the new Origin album to myself. There is no slow construction and also no Intro. Just put the CD into the player and start the blasting attack with the first track called "The Aftermath". I don't want to say that we are accustomed a different way from Origin (except on their first full length album) but nearly nobody would have thought that these sick psychopaths would be able to play even faster, more technical and more brutal and still write interesting songs. Rather I expected that Origin would gear down a little bit after "Echoes Of Decimation" and the withdrawal of drummer James King but I was definitely miscalculating. Now back behind the drum set again is drums-god John Longstreth (Ex-Angelcorpse, Ex-Skinless, Ex-The Red Chord). Oh yes he really is back: this guy is blasting so damn crazy but exactly again that you could think he is injecting the on top mentioned cocktail directly into his heart vein every morning for breakfast. Origin's "Antithesis" is for the Death Metal scene what Marduk's "Panzerdivision" has been for the Black Metal scene. But comparing both with each other Marduk will for sure get the shorter end of the stick, because Origin are more sovereign in any way and they know how to handle their instruments in an supernatural way. While everything is played in light speed the technical level on this record is still so advanced that it should give an entry into the Guinness records books. But as high speed, brutality and extremely high technical achievements are not everything Origin have the right answer for the request after interesting and diversified songs. Despite of the extreme level this band has always been able to create their music very exciting. Over the whole runtime many cool melodies appear and even the assignment of guitar solos does not come off badly. We don*t have to talk about the quantity of great killer riffs here now because they are always present. On a very decisive point the band has also learned something new. In some songs a dark and also cold atmosphere is created reminding me a lot of bands like Immolation. I think that maybe some Black Metal bands have also left their marks here. It's really suits perfectly to this band. "Antithesis" has all through been done by professionals and because of that we have to deal with the best and also most mature work of this band. This album vaults the band directly forefront of the greatest and best extreme metal releases of the year. To be honest I can't imagine any other band that could top this album this year. I'm also very delighted because of the good sound production of this album. Sure the drums are standing in the foreground but that does fulfill its aim. When I'm thinking about Origin I want to hear a massive and powerful album and not one of these fucking garage punk sound ones with a garbage can drums sound. Still to mention is that despite of the stunning production all details are able to be heard clearly. This band does not suffocate in a indefinable sludge sound. With more than 42 minutes this CD also doesn't fall out too short. If you always wanted to know how the future of American Death Metal will sound then here you have your chance to experience it. Everyone about to let this extreme metal manifestation slip should immediately be punished with a lifetime metal prohibition. |
