A few weeks ago I received a package with an Infantiphagia shirt and also the band's promo which I will review here right now. Infantiphagia are a quintett from Vermont and they are playing Brutal Death Metal. Well, all in all that sounds like nothing special but this does have no effect on Infantiphagia. The band led by one of the most legendary vocalists in Death Metal, Matti Way, is playing a quite experimental type of Brutal Death. You will get typical slam an tech riffs as much as some slow, doomy and kinda unusual parts. This blend does not make it all just sound more brutal but also very dark and atmospehric at the same time. This is also contributed by the band's lyrical concept. If other bands focus on gore and violence Infantiphagia are dedicating themselves to the ancient sumerian and mayan culture. In this case i think the actual lyrics to the songs would have been great but that's something you cannot expect from a promo to contain. If you want to try listening to the vocals closely in order to understand what the lyrics are I'd just say ''leave it!'' because like I said Matti Way is on the mic on this release. But this is for sure not tragically at all as one can experience Matti is in his absolutely top form on this release. His guttural vocals simply are some of the sickest vocals ever in the Brutal Death Metal genre. I totally dig it when his vocals are mixing with some of the screams done by Dain Gosbee, who is one of Infantiphagia's guitarists. This makes the music sound even more aggressive. I think there is nothing really to complain about this promo. The only bad thing I noticed was the bassdrum sounding kind of dull and not very heavy but that is definitely something that is not that disturbing and it limits the fun of listening to this promo just a very little bit. Concludingly I can say that Infantiphagia have done everything right with this promo because these 3 songs let you crave for more. But hey at this point there is something negative I have noticed! That negative thing is that Infantiphagia's first full lenght should have already been released in October 2008. Unfortunately I have no clue about what caused the delay or how long the delay will take until it is finally released but I hope that it will see the light of day and therefore also the light of my CD-player's laser as soon as possible!
