Wow look who is back again with some new material. Morris Cliteater has been busy again with his solo project called Hymen Holocaust and brings us a scarce year after the second album "Blood Feast" a new MCD plain and simple called "Hymen Holocaust". The biggest difference in the purchase to the predecessor is that Morris has dedicated the whole album again to one special theme like it has been the case on the debut album "Necromance". The choice fell on another movie from the German director Jörg Buttgereit, who is probably one of Morris personal favorite dirty directors. On "Necromance" it has been the movie "Nekromantik" and on the newest work from this sick Dutchman it is "Der Todesking" who may serve in an extensively way. This movie built itself up from seven episodes showing different forms of death and so it's not surprising that exactly seven tracks on this new MCD can be found. Each of these tracks reflects one of the seven weekdays from "Der Todesking" which is even more clarified through the fact that all the weekdays have been added in front of the track titles on the back tray of this album. Further some samples like the sick "Der Todesking" Theme may not be missed and also the cover artwork can be brought in connection with Jörg Buttgereits unusually movie. Ok enough about the fact that this MCD is one with a concept at this point. What can one expect in the matter of new Goregrind here? Well, all things considered not really that much. One is still getting the typical Goregrind mix existing of groovy mid-tempo passages and isolated short blast attacks hewn around one's ears like which is heavily inspired by bands like Rompeprop or Bile like it has been the case on the previous albums already. Real new ideas are not really available here but talking about quality one is still getting some pretty solid work delivered that is able to convince. All instruments have been well-practised by Morris once again. The guitar and the bass are creating a wonderful dirty sound again which is getting strengthened through perverse and hot harmonizer gurgling of the mark "head inside the ass" and through a massive drum sound. Especially the bass guitar sound has been better adapted here and is not pushing itself into the foreground like it was the case on "Blood Feast". Equally the production can be assumed as quite successfully. Indeed there is a little noise to interrogate over the whole runtime but where this noise is more disturbing on over bands releases it's leaving behind a positive impression on "Hymen Holocaust" and is also taking care that the already dirty sound is booming out of the boxes even raunchier. Also there is some reinforcement on board this time. For the track "Necro Cannibal" one has been able to get nobody else than Joost Silvrants (Inhmue, Cliteater) as guest singer who is giving us a good and totally convincing foretaste from what one can expect on "Scream Bloody Clit". After good 20 minutes which this MCD is reaching through the use of some samples the bloody racket is over again. However one was finally once able to do it without using a fucked up outro. Altogether "Hymen Holocaust" is offering an increase towards its predecessor and is more orientated to the sound of the debut album "Neromance" again. Goregrind fans in general and fans of Rompeprop, Bile, Inhume and Cliteater in particular should definitely get their money's worth with the newest work from Morris Cliteater.
