| The three guys of Guttural Engorgement from South Carolina, USA is throwing an output in best Devourment manners of the pile with their first Full length album "The Slow Decay Of Infected Flesh". Eleven times Slam-Death at its best (the tracks 01 and 12 are actually just intros) is offered to the listener with nice guttural burping, sometimes shrieking vocals and very down tuned guitars as well as an booming bass sound. The variation of the speed is one of the best aspects of the sound for Guttural Engorgement. Sometimes it is groovy, sometimes it is filled with blast beats and all that is served with appealing riffs adequate for banging (and I do not just mean Head banging, hrhr). The production of this CD is also very clean and good, there is nothing to complain here. The cover artwork is professional drawn and the track names go into order. There's also a very very limited special edition out, that contains a different cover artwork done by Tony Koehl, which is even better than the one from Toshihiro Egawa (Studio Sho) so if you think about a purchase, choose that one before it's sold out (besides the different cover this release is containing the same stuff as the over one). Officially you can recieve this special editon only through the band itself. My only bigger criticism is that the duration of this album is just above 24 minutes. Anyway, a purchase is worthwhile in any case for everybody who can't get enough of guttural slamming Brutal Death. I'm looking forward anyhow already to upcoming albums of this band, which are perhaps a little longer than this one. Until then, I'll let this long iron rotate in my player for several times while looking at the bands aesthetic MySpace page. |
