The East German Death Metal unit Gomorrha shouldn't be known by many Death Metal freaks, because of the matter that they're more or less an insiders' tip. But I know the band since the previous album "Sexual Perversity by Autopsy". Well the album offered some solid Cannibal Corpse styled Death Metal, but it was also very mediocre and I decided to banish it out of my CD player soon. Ok it wasn't that bad, but this album was stuff which you mustn't really know. Their newest output is called "Boy(p)art" (Look at the (p)) and it's directly able to attract attention and to mark itself out of the mass of Death Metal albums. But it's not because of the music, its cause it got one of the most tacky and worst cover artworks which I've seen since centuries. The artwork of their "Sexual Perversity whatever" record was pure crap, but this one here is a way more worse. Probably you can find better paintings at a nursery school paint competition. But let's ignore the fact, that the layout and artwork have been foozled and let us focus our attention to the relevant points of the CD, the music. Even if my fellow ScYthe would like to beat the shit out of me after he read the following sentences, it's fair to say, that the music isn't much better than the awful artwork. After the first seconds I realized that they haven't been developed a lot. The guitars don't sound very heavy in contrast to the trigger drum sound, which is placed in the foreground. I have to admit, that the drummer made a good job on this record, but it also sounds a little bit too mechanically and not varied enough. At the previous album I had found one or two songs which were good and sometimes the sound reminded me of some amazing Dutch Death Metal bands like Brutus or Severe Torture, but now the things look completely different. The great guttural vocals from singer Timo Just that have been in the vein of Dave Rotten from Avuseld are only patchy present. Now they tried to sound a little bit "sicker" than before and they really wrecked it. Again and again they tried to do some pig or toilet vocals. Especially the pigs styled vocals are annoying and they make sure that I hate this CD. The singer should try to do more of the great old guttural vocal stuff and stop doing any stupid wannabe pig vox's (if somebody from the band is reading this review here, buy a Bound & Gagged CD, because they know how to do real Pig-style vocals). Besides that, the music is full of many blastbeats and some Cannibal Corpse styled mid-tempo parts, but without being able to play it on the same high technical level like CC. When the band starts blasting, they sometimes sound like the Dutch Death Metal slaughters Brutus, but Brutus know how to play brutal stuff and have a good songwriting on it also. Gomorrha is definitely not able to play in the same league with Brutus. The whole CD here is too weak, too replaceable and too boring. I really haven't found any song on this album that has been really good. Instead of that, I have found boring, unexceptional brutal Death Metal clubbing. Non heavy guitar sounds, bland guitar riffing and really annoying pig vox's, which are finally the reason that I won't listen to this record again in my life. Solely, only the drummer makes a good job and so the drum sound sounds a lot better as all the other instruments do. The best song of this album isn't an original Gomorrha song; it's a cover of Napalm Death's "Unchallenged Hate". There is also a extra unspectacular video of the song "The Sirens (Isle of Death)" on this disc. On this video you can see the band live on stage and backstage. It's very boring but better than a "band is playing in their band room" video. Well, the whole torture takes fortunately only 37 Minutes and I'm really happy that the playtime isn't much longer. In my opinion this CD is cheesy and total crappy and even worse than the boring previous album. Maybe some people could like this CD, but I'm definitely not one of them. So if someone of you is into bands like Bloodboil or buys every crappy Death Metal band that is brutal should listen to this full length album. All the other people outside should save the money for better brutal Death Metal releases.
