| So there they are again the three maniacs around the band Foetopsy. Since their 2003 release album "Dyspartum" this is the first musically sign of life of this band that has been pressed on CD. Again released through Barbarian Records they want to show us with 21 brand-new tracks where the fetus is hanging but this succeeds to this trio only conditionally. The explanation why is given pretty fast: "In The Bathroom" has just fallen out too short. Just about 19 minutes and 27 seconds are needed until all of the 21 tracks from this part have been blasting through ones auditory canal. Apart from the last track "Uteral Waste Disposal" that comes along with a runtime of four minutes none of the other tracks is able to run for more than a close minute and if this case occurs than it's just because there is another intro sample placed in front again. This is somewhere really unfortunate because the properly music that is delivered by these three totally crazy lunatics is really listenable. Jon Engman is working on this drum kit that only consists of a snare and a double bass until it is breaking down in itself, Eric contributes some delightful nasty guitar riffs and Jesse provides for the good tone with growls, screams and guttural spew vocals. Sometimes there are also vocals interspersed that are extremely sounding like a pitch shifter was used or on which one has to smile unavoidable as they are offered so dorky but amusing. The whole wild thing reminds somehow on a varied mixture of the Grindfuckers, Sons Of Tarantula and Regurgitate. Track titles like "Fingering Faces And Faeces", "Lick The Parts" or as well "Choking On Vaginal Pubes" point out the lyrical alignment of this band very fast, but everything is still underlined and mixed with the typical humor of Foetopsy. Already when one is taking a look at the batty cover artwork of this CD one should know that nothing here is meant serious or should be taken seriously. And so they are blasting from track to track until after 15 minutes the last "song" on this release has been reached. Like already mentioned at the beginning this one is the longest track. But whoever thought one would get served four minutes of pure banging here errs enormously: the whole damn track consists of nothing than just heavy noise accompanied by a light whimpering and other sounds and effects and because of that one can't consider this one a real track but merely a too extra-long outro. In my opinion this is an unnecessary and stupid move to put something like this on a CD. Nobody would voluntarily listen to this shit a second time and so "In The Bathroom" gets kicked out of the CD-player after 15 instead of 20 minutes. Even the fact that most of the tracks are basically similar to each other because of the quite short runtime doesn't even make it easier for the newest opus from Foetopsy. Without any considerable highlights "In The Bathroom" sadly remains a pretty short CD wwith a few funny moments that has otherwise only typical blast beat grind stuff to offer. Fans of the previous album "Dyspartum" will maybe approach to this album with some interest but all the others will addict themselves to other better publications within the genre. |
