| So here I am sitting now in front of my PC writing my first review ever. Yes, not only for Gutturalzine, as far as I believe it is my absolutely first official review. For this cause I thought for myself I should review one of my absolute favorite CDs: Dyscrasia's Full-Length "Septical Stomach-Pumped Remnants". After one Demo, a Split with Dislimb on Comatose Music and an EP (later re-released on a Split with Putrid Pile), the named Debut Full-Length of Dyscrasia appeared. This pearl from the year 2003 was released on the Label United Guttural Records, at this time as a Re-Release (unfortunately I do not know the first Version of this CD). But to come to this point directly: regarding the production this CD has no deficits in any case. The production fits like a glove on the music: phat, heavy and brutal. So, after an Intro with the length of 01:44 min a riff begins, which I can't forget since the first listening. This first riff of "Grinded Into Fetal Sludge" is an absolute killer. It is grooving, brutal and simply amazing. The drumming kicks in into the song and Neil Ruppert shortly let his Frognoise appeal. Wow, such brutal Forgnoise you don't hear all the time...and like assured in the booklet, they are without any additives. Neil really has a excellent cool voice. You really ask yourself from where he conjures those gutturals up. The drumming ingeniously supports the groovy-slamming opening-riff and I can only say that John Gilbert reveals a master achievement over the whole album. His double-bass salves are perfectly inserted, his blast beats heavy and fucking fast and those great fills on the cymbals (like for example on the beginning of "Semen Soaked C-Section") and at all are every time refreshing again. And then after 25 seconds of pure groove comes a break. Than it begins - at once you have the feeling that hell breaks loose. A fast riff begins, the drums and vocals initiate and after a short "tune" a blast beat inferno which is dressing down sets in. But this is at no time monotonous. It is often interrupted through skillfully inserted groove- or slam-riffs. Good staged drum-fills as well as great vocal-patterns add also additional brilliance. Such killer riffs you'll never forget you'll find more than often on this CD. Already the beginning riff of "Atrocious Appetite For Cauterized Cooter" is grooving everything into basement and earth so much that bulldozers in person would turn pale because of envy. Except for the first and last song Dyscrasia used no Intros and samples in their songs and those 2 are in my opinion a cool choice and fit well into the "overall picture". You are now maybe thinking, that I praise this CD in the treetops because I work totally subjective here but that is totally wrong. I stay behind my statements at 100%, also in an objective view. The from me described mixture of fast passages, blast beats as well as slower, groovy passages to the point of slamming parts draws through the whole duration time of 27:33 minutes on the album from Dyscrasia. One really simply has the feeling that absolute experts have been working here. These guys for sure knew what they do. They simply found the right mixture. It makes huge fun listening to this album. Moreover Dyscrasia play all this with a tightness that one's ears flutter. Altogether it could happen that your jaw will drop down! This CD is altogether simply a little brutal masterpiece. Current news should make Dyscrasia-Fans like me the mouth dripping wet, because Dyscrasia got together and rehearse again. Some live gigs as well as it seems a new album are planned...when this isn't one of the best news in 2008. Remains to be seen how Dyscrasia tie in with "Septical Stomach-Pumped Remnants" but one thing is fixed: this band can not disappoint! In the end I can only hope that you already own this Album. What, you don't own it already? And you want to be into great, American Brutal Death? There is something really wrong here then...this CD is an absolute must have for every new school Brutal Death fan! "Septical Stomach-Pumped Remnants" is for sure a damn ingenious album! |
