Glen Benton and his cheeky devil's are back in the spotlight, to finish off Christendom once and for all. Whether they're successful this time to convert mankind on the site of Satan is questionable again, because fortunately there are parts in the world population who don't believe in everything and are still able to scrutinize wherever it comes from. Well as Deicide aren't able to use their powers for productive things in the world they decided to put out again another album against Jesus and his pals and bash it round our ears. Oh what a surprise, when a band deals more than 20 years with one and the same subject, they must be possessed or rather feeling much love for this subject. Ok dear Glen you're not so evil like it seems but you're secretly a Christ who fears to admit his own big passion. That's the reason why you hide yourself behind a wall of hate and damnation, so that no one will strike on the idea that everything is just a part of your big camouflage. So very soon it will not be "Glen Benton for president" anymore but "Glen Benton for pope". It is time to get serious now, so let's put all jokes aside. Deicide can continue with their hobby, who cares? However that may be, on their latest full length album "Till Death Do Us Part" Deicide appearing themselves similarly sophisticated like on the previous album "The Stench Of Redemption". I can't tell it often enough but the sacking of the Hoffman brothers was a really good decision for the development of the band. These god killers were finally able to remove the garbage sound from the old days. Through the joining of Ralph Santolla (Ex- Death, Obituary) and Jack Owen (Ex- Cannibal Corpse) the musical level did some major big steps on the evolutionary ladder. You can hear it really good on the previous album. They continued the way with their dream line-up but on this output it sounds very unimaginative and carelessly. Sometimes I find that it really sounds like that the band only finished their duty so they don't fail with the contract but they did it without taking care of the album. If you can remember the band had a similar situation with the pathetic "In Torment In Hell" album. That's a real shame, because I was very enthusiastic after they moved into such a great direction and released the amazing previous album. Well conditional based on the strong line-up, we have no second "In Torment In Hell" disaster here. You can find all generic Deicide elements here. The drums are still blasting very fast and are like always one of the strongest aspects on this record. Glen's vocals are as usual beastly and the guitars are shredding everything with their brutal riffing. But they're still working on a high level. Maybe this one here is the most brutal Deicide release of all time but it doesn't change the fact that the most of the songs here are very much replaceable and don't have a chance compared to the previous album. Even Glen's good vocals had experienced better times in the past. Sometimes it sounds like that the band has regressed talking about the sound. Imagine that "The Stench Of Redemption" would have been mixed with many elements from the "Legion" era but however with the uninspired flavor of the "In Torment In Hell" album. Well I don't like that stuff and the previous album will furthermore still be my personal favorite Deicide manifestation. But I have still some songs on hand that are recommendable. Listen to the songs "Worthless Misery", "Not As Long As We Both Shall Live" and "In The Eyes Of God" and you will have the highlights of this album altogether. You don't have to listen to the rest anymore. This album is really only interesting for the die-hard Deicide front and you should better grab either the bands previous album or some of the old classical Deicide stuff.
