"Pain. Suffering. Death I Feel!" With this few words as introduction DEGRADE from Sweden are propounding a clean clubbing track with "Repulsive Gore", which is switching between crazy blast attacks and mid-tempo parts. The guitars are ajusting themself to the speed and are threshing brute or fireing one slamstyle riff after another one up to your ears. Added through this is a deep, guttural voice, which could not be better fit in this master plan. But there is not only guttural singing, also some screaming lyrics can be percieved, but these are confining for example up to a short "MOTHERFUCKIN' DIE!" or something similar like that. Like a red thread this concept is going to be spun and executed consistend, what is working good for this MCD, because where the new Enmity has been to undiversified, DEGRADE are not making the same mistake. Every track has it's own riffs, breaks and blastbeats, so that there is still a lot of fun to listen to this MCD again. Also the production from "Hanged And Disemboweled" does not need to hidden and shows some other newcomer bands how to do it right. Drums which are not mixed to the foreground and also not sunk in the background, guitars, which are harmonizing with the good to hear bass and above all a sweet guttural voice, which is alternating with little screaming vocals make "Hanged And Disemboweled" a nearly perfect CD without notable mistakes or disruptive influences. Sometimes i think, i have listened to the new record of PROPHECY, because the style of the riffs, DEGRADE are playing really remembers me on the guys from Texas. As a negative point you could call the short runtime of 19 minutes, but as it is a MCD, it's totally ok and wrenches the rating only down for a minimum. At the end there is a MCD, which has been brought in really cool, nearly perfectly mixed and with a high grade of diversifications. Right now i'm glad to listen to the first full lenght record of DEGRADE, who have slipped a new wind into the often monotonous clubbing-genre very easily. Thumbs up for this debut and this cool band!
