| In front of me lies the second release of the Thuringian Death Metal band around the two meter large singer Uwe. After two demos and a split CD with the band Strangled as well as the 2006 released full length "Dripping With Blood" the story now goes on with "The Bone Collection". This nice piece of work has again been released through Remission Records. The cover art done by Svencho from Aborted does not reinvent the wheel at all but the half destroyed torso is also not a shot into the furnace. With their live shows these hymen-destroyers always knew how to persuade their audience and also the previous releases have always been pretty worth hearing. So far so good, they have been going into the war with some high expectations. Without any longer intro samples they are straight turning up the heat. A good mixture of fast technical parts in the vein of Necrophagist combined with heavy rolling groove parts is pleasing the listener. Sure one has already listened to some stronger full length releases within the brutal death genre but all in all a pretty round picture is results especially as one has not to fight with some over-produced slobbery sound. In my opinion the guitar is played remarkably well over the whole runtime of this album. In contrast to their previous full length the band has been able to add a good dose in the matter of alternation and technique here. Especially the guitar solos have been improved a lot as they are well-practised more consistent and sparkling clean. Talking about the vocals I first had the feeling that this bone collection has been compressed a lot and so it wouldn't fit with my personal taste at the beginning. But after listening to it a second time the growls that are accentuated with screams came across more snottily and lower and have been able to please me. The thunderstorm from drummer Försti doesn't need any additional frills and is pushing the whole sound with some rapid blast beat attacks at a level of 200 bpm. Overall seen one can say that "The Bone Collection" is an album that really deserves the attribute worth hearing. Anyone who is into US Death in the vein of Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse or Suffocation should give this album a chance. Defloration's new publication is an album without any highlights in about 37 minutes but it's still able to persuade through a consistent concept. |
