The German Death/Grind Band Dead should be a concept more or less to everybody. With their two previous albums "You'll Never Know Pleasure-Until You've Tasted Pain" and "V.I.P." they already provided for some whirl and also gained a certain status in the Death/grind scene. Because of that it's a really astonishingly fact that one has let himself whole 8-year time to release the third album. This album was baptized "Whorehouse Of The Freaks", is coming along with 10 perverse tracks and an artwork fitting to it and has a complete runtime of 34 minutes. Thematically they had dealt always with the areas porn, sex, rape etc in their lyrics and this has not changed on their newest output what you can notice through tracks like "I, The Bitchfinder" or "Facesitter". After the pretty like rock sounding track "Rectal Punishment 2" one has joined in the blasting begins. Ok you can't really call it blasting because since for it, it is still absent a good piece in the matter of tempo. It's rather more a fast grooving style here. The vocals remind me to some old school stuff like for example the legendary troop around Chuck Schuldiner. Danni, Uwe and Ali are jangling and growling what the vocal chords are able to offer, but everything still has this little old school touch in it and is therefore not drifting into areas of Brutal Death Metal or anything similar. Generally I've nothing negatively to say against this, because also old school Death Metal has its for sure interesting and awesome moments, but after some time I was feeling the desire for more coming up. But the vocals are not the only thing what bored me after a while. Also the tracks could not persuade me anyhow really to have big hit potential. Some grooving parts here, some nice sounding riffs there, but then it did not come to any more anyhow. I really think those tracks would kick some more ass when the drum sound would have been a little bit more courageous and also aggressive. The drum sound on "Whorehouse Of The Freaks" is just splashing before himself and is sometimes also a little bit disturbing when the same beat is hold over some longer passages. It's just sounding pretty boring. On the other side I have to point out the good work on guitar and bass, which are both very good to notice and taking care for the required vehemence inside of the tracks. Also they haven't made any mistakes when talking about the production of this album. The "Whorehouse Of The freaks" is also garnished with samples of the brand "first I fuck you; then I kill you". They could have left those stuff out but I think as the ideas for this album have been shortly measured a little bit they've added these samples to this album to get a longer complete runtime at the end. Otherwise quite clearly less than 30 minutes would have found its place in the "Whorehouse Of The Freaks" for sure. I can't do a bigger comparison to any of the other CDs but I'm sure fans of this band will be entertained very well with this one here too. For people who are more into brute and brutal blasting stuff (like I am) this brothel is just not offering enough and can therefore just be classified mediocre. With a better drum sound and also a little more aggressiveness as well as a higher speed it could look quite completely different with the next spot.
