| After the ingenious MCD of these Canadian extreme Death Metal band I have been strained on the first full length album. One expects a lot from "Mechanics Of Dysfunction". They still play Death Metal in its most technically, most sickest and most extreme form from the beginning to the end. The songs are interspersed with ultra brutally played rhythms (whereby I have still some doubts about it that the group is able play the stuff in such a way also on the stage) and come along with a cold mechanical sound wall that they can put thereby confidently Fear Factory into the bag. It is strangely that each snare-impact sounds on the same level, an unbelievable double base is played and there are guitar runs in unbelievable speed. With this technical perfection a triggered drum kit (like Fear Factory) is inevitable, it even exist the suspicion of a programmed drum kit, but they can convince me gladly live at any time. The high speed and the exciting mind-twisted song structures are admirable on the one side, on the other side the first time hearing is somehow shredded and end somewhat arduously at the end. Either one finds favors at new school Death Metal or not, fact is that you must give this album some time, so that it can unfold itself. Because within "Mechanics Of Dysfunction" there are some refinements hiding themselves. I partly mean that I have to deal with a concept album about mechanic sterilization, because the album unfolds no real atmosphere and the songs turn from one into the next. You can rate that either negatively or positively. The problem is that there are no breaks to rest the ears, there is a "song mash" arising and the album can't open itself without difficulty. Therein the advantage of the MCD "Evidence OF Inequity" consists, it is short, just as sick as the album I am talking about, but in any case its more easily too listen to it. In any case it is remarkable that Beneath The Massacre pull through their compromise less style and already for the second time they present themselves in front of the metal listeners just to leave open mouths behind. Without a doubt "Mechanics Of Dysfunction" is ingeniously produced and provided with some correctly horny mosh parts. I for my part let me in on this album and I am really enthused."Mechanics Of Dysfunction" really has something special. I simply can't get over this Meshuggah-Guitar like in "Long Forgotten" combined with these over-powerful double-base-storm like for example at the end of "Invisible Hand". From the play-technical side the zenith is nearly reached, I am strained what will come next. As alluding tips I would give you "The Surface" and "Modern Age Slavery" on the way. If the guys are able to play the stuff live on stage like one can hear it on this CD, I will fall on my knees in front of them! "Mechanics Of Dysfunction" makes desire on it. |
