So, what do we have here? Ah, Amagortis from Switzerland! After their first full length from 2004 the band is coming back in 2007 with their second effort called ''Pre-Natal Cannibalism''. Prenatal anthropophagy? That is exactly what the cover looks like which is drawn by Mike Majewski. At least now everyone should know what you are going to get in the upcoming 30 minutes: yes exactly, slamming Brutal Feath Metal at its best in my opinion! I guess Amagortis were mainly influenced by Bands like Devourment, Putrid Pile and others alike. Just bands that combine brutal blasting with heavy mosh parts that are crowned by inhuman vocals which is exactly what Amagortis are doing right here. This may not sound very innovative but what Amagortis are doing, they are doing it very well! Tracks like ''Overdose Per Hole'' or ''Fecalphallus'' are really massive and are even more punishing being played live. Lyrically only die hard hobby-cannibals and "necromantics" will be excited about this as the lyrics appropriate to the title of the CD and the cover of it handle those things and similar themes. The rest of the listeners including myself will read through the lyrics once, grin every now and then because of the absurdity of the content and will finally put the booklet back into the case just thinking ''well, in the end, I don't give a shit, all in all, the music has to crush!''. Since Amagortis did not deliver a perfect record with ''Pre-Natal Cannibalism'' there are sure things to be criticized. More than the afore mentioned lyrics which are far from being masterpieces of literature the most disturbing issue for me was the drum sound. When the blast parts last longer the snare sound really starts to get annoying because everything seems to be overshadowed by a brazen ''ping-ping-ping-ping-ping''. Also the bass drum sound is to be faulted. Especially during the blasts they are not loud enough although they are triggered as fucking hell. In conclusion these 4 Swiss guys did a nice job with this record right here. Except for the lyrics and the drum sound there is nothing really to complain about. This CD is just pure fun! Nevertheless, it is not comparable to the live qualities of Amagortis. That is why I recommend anyone not just to check out ''Pre-Natal Cannibalism'' but to be sure to check them out on stage too. The two times I have been able to see them they were fucking good!
