ScYthe: Hey Tom. First of all thanks for doing this interview with me. I really appreciate it. Ok I think we can skip this "tell us something about the bands bio" stuff as everyone who is into brutal stuff should know this band. So let's start with the real question shit. First of all, I would like to ask you what happened with all the other band members. Why did they left the band and are there already new sicko's involved to replace them? Tom: The only thing that I can say about that is that it was either due to their personal reasons or they we're basically fired, because they were not growing as musicians equally to the rest of the band. Mike Flores from Origin joined our band as replacement for Paul Garcia on the bass. ScYthe: Let's talk a little bit about the new upcoming album "KuntKiller". What can we expect from this album? What are the main important changes comparing it to "Masticate To Dominate"? Tom: "KuntKiller" was only a "working" album title for a while. We have decided to call it "Destined To Violate". I guess I can say that it will be the most mature Gorgasm album as far as both music and lyrics. We did a lot of experimental stuff while writing this album. Over all, it will be much faster and complex, compared to "Masticate To Dominate" or any previous Gorgasm albums. ScYthe: Is there actually already a track list for this album available? If yes, please write them down. Tom: Most of it is. Some titles will include - "Sadistic Bliss", "Destined To Violate", "BloodLust", "KuntKiller", "Visceral Discharge", "Erotic Dislimbing" and "Contemptious Debauchery". ScYthe: At the NRW Deathfest last year Damian "Tom" Leski told me the new CD will have some kind of real cover artwork this time with a lot of porn stuff and some gore & blood. Now I've seen that you've started a contest where people can send you artworks they made. Is the idea still the same or are there changes planned for the cover artwork and the layout? Tom: There will be 2 versions of the new album. The idea that Damian have portrayed to you is still the same, except it will be used on the 2nd "uncensored" limited edition pressing, which will also feature x-rated version of a video for the song "Sadistic Bliss and 4 extra tracks - the nastiest pieces Gorgasm have ever written! The cover concept of the 1st pressing will be "less" graphic, do to fact that our Record Label has recently signed serious distribution deal and with all the good things about it, there are some limitations on our end. ScYthe: What can we expect from the lyrics offered on "Destined To Violate"? Will it be the typical gore & blood perversion stuff or are there some pretty unexpected and more creative lyrics that can be found later when the CD will be released? Tom: The idea is still the same, but like I've mentioned before - more "mature" - which in our case, it does not only mean that they will be better than any of our previous sick stuff....also, we dig much deeper into the realms of perversity this time. ScYthe: Ok the next question is one you should already have thought that it will come: when will DTV see the light? Is there a deadline 'till it has to be finished or released? Which label is interested in releasing the new CD or will it be a self released one first like it was the case with Devourment's last CD and then later a re-recorded version of it as a official label release? Tom: We are entering the studio in the beginning of October. We are planning on spending about a month there, then master it and press it. There's going to be only one official release of it but we don't know yet who will release it as we are not working with Shiven Records anymore. The release is planned for spring '08. ScYthe: Ok enough about "Destined To Violate" for the moment. Let's talk about last year's NRW Deathfest. Gorgasm played as the headliner for the fest. What was your impression about the crowd, the location etc after you finished the gig? Have there been some things which you didn't liked or was everything just cool? Tom: NRW gig was one of the most intense shows we have ever played! The crowd was just simply nuts!!! There was no pit in front of the stage - The whole place was a big pit!!!! ....The only bad thing about the fest was the hangover in the next morning, after drinking liters of jaeger. ScYthe: The band played like 6 additions at that gig because the crowd still was begging for more. One track was asked the whole time which was "Deadfuck". What was the reason you played "Disembodied" a second time instead of that track? Tom: We simply didn't have enough time to teach Murray from Severed Savior "DeadFuck" - who filled in on bass for Paul Garcia at that time - it is one of more "time consuming" songs to learn. The crowd wanted more, but that was all we have had, so we decided to just do "Disembodied" again. ScYthe: Murray from Severed Savior was helping you out at this gig as Paul Garcia was not any longer a member of the band. Have you asked him to stay in the band as a session bass player and finish the new CD together with him? Tom: Paul was still in the band at that time, he just couldn't do that tour with us. Murray just did this one tour with us, but there were no further plans, as far as joining the band or recording session. ScYthe: What's your opinion about how the Death Metal scene is developing at the moment with all these lately out of nowhere coming newcomer Death Metal bands? You know there are a lot of newcomer bands who are calling themselves a Death Metal band but are actually sounding more like some Deathcore band with some more guttural vocals. Tom: Times are changing, the music is changing. Some people like it, some don't. And that's fine, that's why we have so many different types of music out there. As far as these "new Deathcore" bands - let them jam, but don't call it Death Metal!!! ScYthe: You are also not only playing in Gorgasm but also in Disinter, The UnderCurrent and Corphagy. Can we expect to hear some new stuff from these bands soon also or is your main interest focused on finishing the new Gorgasm CD first? Tom: My main focus at the moment is new Gorgasm album. We are finishing up with writing and preparing for the studio. I'm no longer in Disinter - which doesn't really exist anymore as a functional band, but there will be another Disinter album released in the future, which was already recorded 2 years ago but never got to see the day light yet. Corphagy will be released on Shiven Records early '08, and so will another project of mine, Immense Grief. The UnderCurrent is taking a break for a while, until the things with Label and recording clear up. ScYthe: If someone would ask you to make a little interim balance sheet, which bands would be your personal favorites for the moment and which bands have disappointed you with their new stuff? Tom: Good stuff, their latest - Cephalic Carnage, Arcturus, Brain Drill, Necrophagist, Man Must Die, Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy, Samael, Nile, Deicide Bad stuff - Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Decapitated, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Skinless, Cryptopsy... ScYthe: Ok let's talk about something in purchase to "Destined To Violate" again. For sure when it is released there will be new merch stuff available also like new shirts etc. Will there be a limited version of "Destined To Violate" out with some bonus stuff on it like hidden tracks, a multimedia part with wallpapers or videos? Tom: There's going to be a video clip on the censored release, and some multimedia extras, but the REAL extras will come on the X-rated release :) There's many new merch designs being printed ahead of the album release date and soon all be available for purchase in store section on www.shivenrecords.com ScYthe: What are the future plans of the band after DTV will be out? Are you planning to have another tour through USA or Europe again, for example the "Destined To Violate" Tour 2008" or something like that? Tom: We're planning a full US/Canada tour in early spring, depending on how long it would be we will definitely do a full European tour. Also Australia, New Zealand and Japan are planned for '08. ScYthe: Ok bro, I think that's it. Thank you again for agreeing to do this interview. The last words are yours. Stay sick! Tom: Grind On!!!! . and prepare yourself for "Destined To Violate". Your ears shall bleed!!!!! |
